The Belami has the merit to hold a long history firstly through its design from the period of the Belle Epoque also called Golden age, taking up the architectural concept of Cox & Stevens from the 20th century, and secondly by its name borrowed from the novel wrote by one of the most famous French Author Guy De Maupassant.
Besides her name, the Belami is an open book on a period that have seen numbers of boats seeing the light of day, combining charm with a touch of luxury that cannot be find nowadays. The Belami is a boat with a clear personality, representing the beautiful era that have seen the apparition of the upper class, the cabarets, the haute couture but that have most of all seen the birth of famous name of the literature like Joseph Conrad, Emile Zola and Guy de Maupassant.
The story of the Belami goes back 85 years ago, in 1914 when Ransom Eli Olds, also well known for being the pioneer of the American automotive industry for whom both the Oldsmobile and Reo brands were named, decided to build the REOMAR which was the first boat of a series of four. The Belami takes up the style and shape of REOMAR 4 with few modifications, notably regarding the hull.
Olds was a boat lover, as its four REOMAR can prove it, but more than that he had a real passion for the sea. Far be it from us to identify the Belami as a tribute to Olds, intending on recreating a resolute period when boats had a soul and a shape that made them beautiful to watch sailing.
All the charm of the Belami results from her design. All the possible cares were taken in order to build the boat according to its precursors. The result is a boat that went through time and that survived to the swift passage of time without losing her charm and history.
